Go to the Valley of Mines, get the information on ore mining, get Diego out of there. Once you visit all the mining camps, report to Garond, but DON'T ask for a proof for Hagen. This way, you won't trigger chapter 3 once you leave Valley of Mines. Go back to the mainland, finish the NotR plot (kill all the bandits, go to Jharkendar).
